Cholesterol Medication

America has a serious eating problem. That statement may tick you off. Sure, I can understand this, but unfortunately it probably means that you’re already overweight. Now there’s no reason to get offended or toss your computer out the window. What it is time for is a diet and lifestyle change. This is your life we’re talking about here. Get in good shape and stay in good health so that you can live it well. You deserve this! That way you won’t be worrying with cholesterol medication in another ten or 15 years. Or depending on how old you are, maybe less. The truth is our country offers a deluge of garbage cuisine. It’s on ever street corner across the USA. My advice to everyone it to simply avoid it as if your life depends on it. Oh wait; it does. Now are you listening?

You may have noticed that Vytorin and other cholesterol medication decreasers are becoming more prominent now days. While having these remedies at our disposal is wonderful, it’s even better if you never have to use them. There are some simply ways you can lower your cholesterol and keep it down. Actually the best route is always prevention. If you eat healthy and exercise regularly, you shouldn’t have to bother with and new-age cholesterol medication ever. The trick is to stay active and monitor what you consume. All those products you buy from the grocery store that are prepackaged have cholesterol information on the label. Check out your jug of milk as an example. If you’re drinking whole milk, you’ll soon discover that it has a hefty amount of cholesterol and saturated fat. These are both terrible for your heart. They clog arteries and lead to heart disease and strokes. Take my advice and make the switch to soy milk. Your cholesterol levels should plummet. Dairy itself has oodles of cholesterol. So if you’re a big milk, cheese and ice cream lover, you may want to tone things down a bit. Indulging in too much of this food group will lead you to the burden of a cholesterol medication for sure.

Cholestasys™ Cholesterol Support

Lean meats, plenty of fruit and vegetables, along with whole grains and products such as oatmeal are ideal. This healthy diet will steer you clear of a cholesterol medication in the future. Start living right as young as possible. It’s the key to a healthier future.

Yeast Infection

yeast infection 3 Comments

Every woman has had a yeast infection at one point in time. Those women who are lucky enough to never have had one are fully aware of how horrible they are. We have all seen those comical commercials on television for yeast infection creams that show women in utter agony. The commercials would have you believe that it is impossible to live your life while suffering a yeast infection. I don’t know many women that ride horses on a regular basis but I certainly feel for them in those commercials.

It is sometimes impossible to avoid getting a yeast infection. There is a misconception out there that getting this type of infection signals a lack of good personal hygiene. This is simply untrue. You can get a yeast infection simply because you are taking antibiotics. Antibiotics try to kill everything in your system and this includes the beneficial elements in your lady region. Taking antibiotics and other medications can change the pH balance in your system and lead to yeast infections. The last time that I was on a serious antibiotic my doctor also prescribed an anti-fungal medication to ward off a yeast infection. It worked.

There are many things that can change your pH balance and lead to yeast infections. One of the things that can cause yeast infections that many women are unaware of is soap. Most women love taking long bubble baths but are unaware that certain bath products can mess with their pH balance and leave them susceptible to yeast infections. I think it is a good idea to try to stay away from harsh chemicals and unnatural substances if you want to keep your pH balance at the level it is supposed to be at.

If you get a yeast infection you should know that many of them clear up on their own. Our bodies are very advanced and are constantly trying to rid themselves of unhealthy elements. You may find that after a couple of days the infection clears up on its own and you will not have to take any action. If a yeast infection does not clear on its own you can find many affordable treatments at your local drugstore that will help. Most of these treatments only take two or three days to completely kill the infection. Dealing with this issue is just a part of being a woman and is not a very big deal. The next time you see one of those commercials on TV you will just have to laugh.

Nightmares and Night Terrors

anxiety and panic attacks No Comments

Most people who haven’t themselves been plagued with nightmares, or watched a loved one suffer with nightmares, are probably under the impression that a person having any form of a bad dream during the night is having a nightmare. This is not strictly true; there are in fact nightmares and night terrors which occur at different stages of sleep.

Nightmares

Nightmares are disturbing, visual dream sequences that occur in your mind and wake you up from your sleep, are very common and can begin at any age. Nightmares are an indication of a fear that needs to be acknowledged and confronted and are a normal response to unacceptable levels of fear and stress. They are emotionally disturbing dreams that occur during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and provoke feelings of fear, terror, distress or extreme anxiety.

Night Terrors

Night terrors are fearsome waking experiences that can terrify even the strongest person; the word “nightmare” is often inadequately used to describe the suffocating, paralyzed state of a night terror which may leave the unfortunate sufferer with a conviction of suffocation, choking or entrapment. Night terrors, or sleep terrors, occur during deep, non-REM sleep, where the brain’s waveforms are long and slow, and it is also when sleepwalking, sleep talking and sleep screaming can occur. Often the person doesn’t completely wake up during a night terror which happens during the first half of the night, often about 1 to 2 hours after the person goes to sleep; sometimes it can occur almost immediately after a person goes to sleep if they are particularly disturbed at the time.

Health

In general, trauma, stress, fears, health problems, insecurities, feelings of inadequacy, marital problems, grief etc may all be reasons for having nightmares. In persistent cases, patients may be referred to a physician or mental health professional for further evaluation. It generally helps to deal with these bad problems in a healthy way to try and find some form of closure within ourselves and a healthy lifestyle, particularly some form of exercise such as walking regularly for around 30 minutes every day, does seem to help. However, if parents have any concerns about their children’s nightmares, especially if children are having other problems, it is best to consult their children’s health care provider.

Disorder

Panic attacks may occur during sleep in patients with panic disorder, anxiety, or depression and are experienced as nightmares. Sleep disorders are common among children of all ages and are hard on the children and their parents. When nightmares occur in the context of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), they tend to involve the original threatening or horrifying set of circumstances that was involved during the traumatic event. Nightmare disorder is characterized by repeated episodes of a frightening or unpleasant dream that disrupts the person’s sleep. Dream disorders may respond to medication, but behavioral treatment approaches have shown excellent results, particularly in patients with post-traumatic stress disorder and recurrent nightmares.

How to lower your cholesterol levels

cholesterol No Comments

Cholesterol is a fatty and waxy substance that is produced by the liver. Too much of saturated fats in your diet may contribute to high blood cholesterol. Most saturated fats come from animal products such as butter, cheese, chocolate, whole milk, pies, pastries, cakes, hot chips, potatoes and hash browns.

In some individuals, high cholesterol levels can be due to a genetic disorder. Too much cholesterol in your blood will start building up in the artery walls, causing narrowing of the arteries. This increases your risk of developing heart or brain attack(stroke).

Whatever the cause of your high levels of cholesterol is, it is very important that you make efforts to lower your cholesterol levels by changing your lifestyle:

1.Follow a heart healthy dietary pattern.

2.Lose some weight if you are overweight.

3.Be active by doing moderate physical exercises for at least 30 minutes daily.

4.Avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

5.Avoid foods prepared with butter, hydrogenated oil, coconut or palm oil.

6.Avoid white meat fats, chicken skin or processed meats and chicken.

7.Have more servings of dried peas, beans, soy products, oats, whole grains and high-fibre cereals.

If your cholesterol level is too high, your doctor may put you on medication for a short time or for life. If that is the case, you should have your cholesterol levels checked every three months until it is controlled and then every six months.

In normal circumstances, cholesterol is very important as it helps our bodies to function properly. Cholesterol and other fats are also called lipids and each of these has a different function:

1.The High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL)often called the “good” cholesterol because it helps to remove cholesterol from the artery walls, thereby reducing your risk of heart disease.

2.The Low-Density Lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL) is often called “bad” cholesterol because it deposits cholesterol into the artery wall, increasing your risk of heart disease or heart attack.

3.The Triglycerides are the most common form of fat in the body. They act as energy storage tanks of the body. High levels of triglycerides cause many diseases in the body, including heart disease and stroke.

To know your lipid profile, visit you doctor and he or she will perform a fasting blood test. An ideal profiles should is:

Total cholesterol(TC) less than 4mmol/L
LDL cholesterol less than 2.5 mmol/L
HDL cholesterol greater than 1mmol/L
TC/HDL ratio less than 4.5
Triglycerides less than 1.7 mmol/L

Therefore, it is important to change your life style to remain healthy and live longer. Develop good eating habits, keep fit and enjoy life.
